Croesus is a Group PVM boss, and as such, placeholders can be used if this tasked is rolled actively.

Tiers[edit]

These tasks appear in tiers from Hard to Master, with the following breakdown:

  • Hard - 3
  • Elite - 2
  • Master - 5

The final task is for completion of the Some Fungi are Only Edible Once achievement.

Uniques[edit]

Contribution[edit]

How many drops are earned from a Croesus encounter are determined by a player's contribution to the kill. Contribution can be earned by doing most actions that lead to a kill, however, contribution can also be lost. Contribution is lost when gathering from rotten nodes and healing Croesus with red spores. A significant portion of the contribution earned each kill is from removing the energy fungi. A minimum of 60 contribution is required to obtain a unique from the boss (pet not included), and a maximum of 12 rolls on the drop table can be earned with 420+ contribution. A maximum of 10 rolls on the general drop table can be made. The 11th and 12th rolls will only roll uniques or nothing.

Boss Drops[edit]

The Croesus boss log does not require crafting the final products to be completed. As such, the tasks for crafting the Croesus drops can be found in the Passive tier.

Drop Drop Rate
Croesus foultorch 1/5400[1][2]
Croesus sporehammer 1/5400[1][2]
Croesus spore sack 1/5400[1][2]
Cryptbloom helm (incomplete) 1/5400[1][2]
Cryptbloom top (incomplete) 1/5400[1][2]
Cryptbloom bottoms (incomplete) 1/5400[1][2]
Cryptbloom gloves (incomplete) 1/5400[1][2]
Cryptbloom boots (incomplete) 1/5400[1][2]
Scripture of Bik 1/5400[1][2]
  1. A minimum contribution of 60 is required to obtain a unique drop from Croesus
  2. Drop rate can be increased by 2% with enriched pontifex shadow ring

Boss Pet[edit]

The Croesus's enriched root item, which unlocks the Little Sus pet has a base drop rate of 1/1,000. This has a threshold of 500. The pet item is rolled once per player per kill, regardless of contribution.

Tips and Tricks[edit]

  • The need for logs on an ironman can either be sustained with the scavenging of a beaver familiar or by bringing a beast of burden.
  • A purple "health" bar appears over the players head when their stats are drained, and this can be used to determine when to use a super restore potion.
  • If you are hit by a slime, it is likely you will need to use a potion dose, as they can deal approximately half of your "health" without the protection of a pontifex shadow ring upgraded with Bik anima.
  • Energy fungus nodes should always be prioritized for contribution, but be aware they correspond with the timing of sticky fungus as well.
  • When depleting the core, clicking on the core while there are green or white sparkles gives contribution and kills the boss faster; clicking while there are red sparkles heals Croesus and loses contribution.
  • Alt1 SusAlert can be used to help learn the timing and rotation of the bosses "attacks" or simply allow for mindless Croesus kills. Note you have to let it know when the energy fungus is depleted.

4-Player Encounters[edit]

The pattern for completing a Counter-Clockwise Croesus encounter with 4 members for maximum drop potential is as follows (based on Blinky's explanation):

  1. Gather 16 resources from your boss[1] and deposit them at the storage plinth near the statue
  2. Gather resources until you can have 10 rotten resources[1][2]
  3. Gather 16-17 more resources[3]
  4. Move around the map to the opposite boss (counter-clockwise twice) and use your resources on the statue[3]
  5. Pick up the resources left at the nearby storage plinth
  6. Move around once more counter-clockwise and rot the creature there[4]
  7. Use your resources on the nearby statue
  8. Repair your statue[3][5]
  9. Pray when all statues are repaired
  10. Deplete the center node to win

Notes:

  1. Prioritize gathering from the sparkling nodes first, as this depletes the creature faster. Avoid the rotten nodes.
  2. Resources can be manually rotted, but will also rot if you mess up certain mechanics. If you rot 8 fungus, this will pair with the extra 16th resource from step 3 and your allies step 1 to give 10 rotten fungus.
  3. The energy nodes usually happen around step 3 or 4 (depending on speed) and step 8. If your timing is off, be prepared to get to the center quickly.
  4. Rotting the creature is done by attempting to gather from a depleted node with 10 rotten fungus in your inventory
  5. You may need to wait for an ally to finish their step 4 to start repairing

Useful Gear[edit]

While the RS wiki covers most of the important gear to bring to Croesus, several alternatives for Hard tier Taskman accounts can be of use.

  • For those without a skilling offhand for sticky fungus, an offhand with the mobile perk is nice.
  • Several golden and strange rocks can be obtained during Croesus encounters, so a statue collection bag helps avoid losing inventory space.
  • For those blessed by the trapper, crystal skillchompas can be a replacement for a crystal hatchet or a high tier honed perk for a rod-o-matic if you haven't yet obtained them.
  • A beast of burden familiar or beaver can be used regardless of your position on a team as a way of getting logs for sticky fungus.
