Depending on your equipment, killing the Wallasalki in the entrance/first room of waterbirth island is probably not recommended.
A few rooms into the dungeon, you can find rooms with 3 or 4 spawns and should be able to kill them fast enough to maintain one on one combat. Additionally, these spawns have much less hp than the ones in the first room.
