Welcome to the Taskman Tutorial page!

Table of contents:

Welcome to Taskman!

Taskman is a specialized game mode where your entire Runescape path is dictated by our website! In this mode, you will roll tasks to complete one at a time, with that task being your primary focus.

What does it mean to be a Taskman?

Taskmen are leaderboard eligible accounts who start their account as a taskman, with the intention of only playing within the taskman rules. For those who do not wish to play exclusively with Taskman rules, there is an alternative mode called a Taskmain.

While there are many rules in the game mode, there are a few important ones to know as you start. Don't worry too much about memorizing every rule, and use the rule page as a guideline for your current task rather than trying to plan ahead. Some useful rules to know at the start:

- You may not gain experience that is not directly required for your active task.

- You may not start quests unless they are directly required for your active task.

Taskman Tutorial

Welcome to Taskman! We hope that you enjoy your time here. Chances are you have already looked through the rules and feel very overwhelmed. During this tutorial, we will cover some of the most important rules as you start your account. We recommend joining our discord server where you can ask questions directly.

Normally while playing Taskman, you will roll tasks and then complete them. Due to website constraints, tasks labelled "Taskman Tutorial" may be completed at any time. Please follow this guide to take yourself through the tutorial!

Taskman Tutorial: Combat

Your first task: Obtain a unique item from a goblin.

That's right -- In Taskman Mode, even goblins have unique drops and are off-limits until you roll the tasks to kill them.

Goblins have three drops to consider: Goblin Book (Collection Log Item) Goblin Mail(Collecting Log Item) Champion Scroll (Goblin) (Not Collection Log, but Unique from Goblins)

In order to determine if you can kill goblins without a task for them, follow this question chain: - Can I avoid killing this monster for my task? - Have I already obtained all of the uniques? - If there are any uniques left, what is their drop rate?

Taking a quick look at one of our major rules: §2 METHODS AND ACTIVITIES under section c, we can see that we can ignore uniques if they are >1/2000 drop rate. For Goblins, the champion scroll is >1/2000 drop rate, and therefore can be ignored. This means that once you have rolled tasks for the Goblin Book and Goblin Mail, you are free to kill goblins when you need combat experience. Monsters cannot be killed at any time for any reason, and although you don't have to worry about uniques for all monsters, you do still need a reason to kill them. Common reasons include:

- You need combat experience for your active task, and they would be good to train on. - You need the unique that they drop for your active task(such as obtaining a champion scroll)

Once you have obtained your goblin unique, return to this tutorial.

Taskman Tutorial: Combat Part 2

Congratulations on completing your first task! Go ahead and search for "Taskman Tutorial" in the task list, and complete the "Combat" task. (ADD DIRECT LINK TO TASK)

Some tasks will overlap, especially when you have multiple monsters that drop the same items. Because of this, occasionally when you complete one task, that means another task will become completable. If this ever happens, you can manually complete a task. Because the goblin unique was under the "Misthalin slayer log", you can go ahead and mark off that unique by going (LINK HERE TO TASK), selecting the item you obtained in the dropdown, and completing the task.

Taskman Tutorial: Supply Tasks

At this point, you're probably wondering how you're supposed to get food during a combat task. You aren't allowed to gain unnecessary experience, so you can't fish or cook. This also makes thieving cakes or other food off-limits. This is where "Supply Tasks" come in. For your first supply task, please successfully "stock up" on 20 Crayfish. This means that you can fish them and cook them until you have 20 total cooked crayfish.

Please return to this tutorial once you have 20 cooked crayfish.

Taskman Tutorial: Supply Tasks Part 2

Congratulations on completing your first supply task! Go ahead and search for "Taskman Tutorial" and complete the Supply Task task. Once completed, head back to your dashboard.

If you hadn't yet noticed, below your main Taskman dashboard is a list titled "Unlocks." If you look at "Cooking", you will see that you now have an unlock there. Unlocks are gained through completing tasks that have the (ADD UNLOCK SYMBOL) in their task description. These unlocks are generally to be helpful as you progress in your Taskman journey. Your cooking unlock allows you to stockpile 20 crayfish. This means whenever you run out of food, you are allowed to fish and cook up to 20 more crayfish for your adventures. While this is a small amount of a low-healing food, this unlock will upgrade over time as you complete more supply tasks.

Taskman Tutorial: Passives

By now, you may have noticed a category of tasks called "passive tasks." While these tasks are subject to the normal rules of Taskman, they are unique in the fact that they can be completed while they are not your active task. You cannot work on a passive task that does not give experience relevant to your active task. If your active task is to get fishing levels, you cannot do a passive that requires you to mine. However, many passives may not require any experience, and therefore could be completed at any time. This is true for some minigames, such as Castle Wars. Passive tasks are required to move on to the next tier, so don't neglect them!

Let's work on a passive task now: "Taskman Tutorial: Passives". Reading the description of this task tells you how to complete it. Now, you may be asking yourself "How do I complete this if it requires farming experience?" Farming is a unique skill in that the majority of the skill can be passively trained. This is due to the time requirements of farming, and we would not want you to roll a task that would take 10 real-life hours to complete without being able to play your account. Go ahead and read the task, do what it says, and complete it!

Taskman Tutorial: Finale

Thank you for taking the time to read through and participate in our tutorial! We understand that this game mode can be overwhelming, and we are here to help. Please stop by our clan chat "Taskman" or discord and feel free to ask questions or advice.
