Task icon.webp
Description
You may now train a skill of your choice to level 90. You may not actively gather supplies for the skill you choose, if doing so would train other skills that are not unrestricted. Select your desired skill and press 'Complete'. You can work on the skill in your own time, until you've reached level 90.

Possible Perks

While any skill can be chosen for levelling, only a few have potential perks that come with having the higher level. As the 120 skills have a softcap of level 95 in Hard tier, only normal skills can gain any advantage.

Several skills can unlock a Player-owned port adventurer early with this task: runecrafting, construction, agility, thieving, hunter, divination, fishing, and cooking. That said, several of these skills see no other significant benefit to early levelling.

Construction

It is unlikely that players will be filling many master clue hidey-holes in Hard tier, but the upgraded marble wardrobe has no restriction on the number of items stored. This can allow you to deal with old gear sitting around and let you purchase things like the minigame outfits for easy passives without having to store them in the bank.

The biggest improvement that construction offers is the Player lodge, which can store a 99 skillcape for use of its perk at all times. This can be used for something like a defense cape, which lets you have a sign of life protection at all times.

Unlock Construction Level Notes
Hide-holes (Master) 88 Bank space
Player lodge (tier 3) 90 Passive skillcape perk, passive
Marble wardrobe 96[1] Bank space
  1. This requires boost, but can be achieved with the crystal saw and teak shelves 2 tea

Crafting

Potion flasks. 50% more doses per inventory space can be very helpful. Having the early crafting levels may also let you boost for 99 in Elite tier depending on task order.

Unlock Crafting Level Notes
Potion/crystal flasks 89 Combat inventory space
Onyx amulet 90 Combat stats
Hydrix necklace 90 Reaper necklace
Alchemical onyx ring/necklass 91[1] Luck tier 4, combat
  1. This requires boost, but can be achieved with god banner

Divination

Once again, some people like to level with caches.

Unlock Divination Level Notes
Sign of the porter V 88 Gathering skill improvement
Sign of the porter VI 94[1] Gathering skill improvement
  1. This requires boost, but can be achieved with spicy stew

Fletching

Scrimshaws have several requirements in Ports, making it less likely for players to fully utilize this unlock. Still fletching comes with 2 other benefits: more invention components, and earlier access to more bakriminel bolts in Elite tier.

Unlock Fletching Level Notes
Skilling scrimshaws[1] 85,90 Skilling bonuses
Combat scrimshaws[1] 92,95[2] Combat buffs
  1. Scrimshaws require unlocking the Port workshop in the Hook section, and obtaining ancient bones
  2. These require boost but can be achieved with spicy stew

Hunter

These aren't huge upgrades, but a quality of life choice for big game hunter and an extra impling to chase after for uniques.

Unlock Hunter Level Notes
Bakami 90 Arc achievement progress
Hunter lodge (tier 3) 90 Big game hunter buff, passive
Crystal impling 95[1] Early chances at uniques
Orokami 95[1] Early chances at uniques

Summoning

Combat familiar go brrrrr.
